Re-integration

At all schools we will transfer into the basic current those children who are in the chart fit in the groups under the point 1

– those who work in accordance with the primary school standards will be transferred in the forth grade of the primary school

- those who work at the limit of the primary school standards are considered as to be placed in the lower grade, or through an individual plan, as a child integrated within the inclusive class.

             

1.      Primary school Brno, Stará

About 300 students attend the whole school. The school is located in downtown of Brno in the location with the higher percentage of Roma population. Approximately 85 % of students are of the Roma ethnical group. By the school are established also the kindergarten and preparatory class for children from neglected sociocultural environment.

 

The school has been cooperating with our organization for 4 years now. The teachers of the kindergarten, preparatory class, first, second and third grade work efficiently according to the methodology of the educational Step by Step program, use the multicultural approach, and work with the Roma assistants. They achieve very good results. Last year they established in this project a cooperation with the Special school Sekaninova. The more comprehensive goal of the school is to prepare such quality programs that would attract more children of the majority group. Through this way they want to decrease the Roma students segregation and to increase the education efficiency of both groups.

 

The parents of children of the transition class agree both with the placement of the other students in the class and with the educational way of their children within this project. The composition of the parents of children in the class is similar to the pilot class in the Special school Sekaninova. We have prepared for parents an initiatory program presentation and offered them another meeting on the topic “Homework in different way”.

 

The school has a support (especially moral) by its founder and the Ministry of Education to implement the project.

 

At present we have transferred three children of the pilot group in the fourth grade in this school!!!

 

 

2.      Primary school Kladno, Pařížská

 

The school is situated in the estate location in the outskirts of Kladno where at present time is very diverse composition of the population. About 400 students attend this school, 40 % of students are from different ethnical groups, especially Roma and here are also integrated some disabled children.

 

The school has been cooperating with our organization for two years now, especially in the project of Re-integration of Roma students and in the multicultural projects. Since September the school is working on the project Variants with the Czech Foundation People in Need. In the long run they prepare interesting afternoon programs for children.

 

The purpose of the school is to offer an efficient and attractive program, which would bring into the school more children from the majority group and so to remove the isolation in which the school is getting because of the big number of children from the minority groups. The school has got all perspectives to succeed in this program.

 

The parents of children from the transition class agree both with the placement of another students in the class and with the learning style of their children within this project. Most children in this class are from the majority group.

We have prepared for parents an initiatory program presentation and offered them another meeting with the topic “Homework in different way”.

 

The school has a moral support by its founder to implement the project and received also a small financial amount for its development. Also the Ministry of Education supports it.

 

 

3.      Special and Primary school Ostrava – Mariánské hory

Based on the permission of the Ministry of Education and children’s needs this school has been working for six years according to the standards of the both primary and special school. In the school are established two preparatory classes that work in the same way as the primary school classes according to the methodology of the child-centered program (Step by Step). More than 2/3 of students of the preparatory class is transferred into the primary school. The school is successful in motivating children towards the education, parents towards the cooperation.

 

170 students attend this school. At present time 80 of them work according to the standards of the elementary education. The school plans to extend the offer of the afternoon program even for children from the majority group location and to keep going on the individualization of learning. The school has an excellent pedagogy background.

 

 

The school has a moral support of Ministry of Education; the local government does not support it.

 

The school doesn’t work according to the educational standards in the secondary grades. Hence we start to cooperate with its partnership Primary school Ostrava, Matrosovova and to provide this school a methodological support.

 

4.      Special and Primary school Prague, Boleslavova

This school works both in the project of Re-integration of Roma students and even as a pilot school. Simultaneously they asked Ministry of Education for the permission to work according to the standards of the elementary education even in the other classes.

At the present time a preparatory class and 1. – 4. Grades work according to these standards.

102 students attend this school. 65 % of these students, especially in the higher grades, are from the Roma minority.

The efficient pedagogical program in the primary grades attracts more children from the majority group into the school. Mainly those parents who are looking for the specific educational way for their children seek the school.

The school has to solve a problem – how to teach the students in the secondary grades of the primary school in order to reach their “personal best”. The teachers need a support in all three areas – school improvement, child-centered pedagogy, anti bias education.

 

The school has a support by the Ministry of Education. The local government does not support it.
